CoRubrics for Google Sheets and the new web version: how it works

If you know CoRubrics as a Google Sheets add-on, here is what changed. The idea is the same — rubric assessment combining teacher, self- and peer assessment — but it is now a web app at corubrics.co.

Updated:

In short

  • CoRubrics is no longer installed as an add-on: you sign in at corubrics.co with Google or your email.
  • Students assess through a personal link, with no Google account or any other account.
  • You can import rubrics made with the add-on from Google Drive or by uploading the file.

What was the CoRubrics Google Sheets add-on?

It was a free Google Sheets add-on created by Jaume Feliu, a teacher in Catalonia. From a rubric written in a spreadsheet it generated a Google Form, collected teacher and student responses, and calculated grades in the same sheet.

Thousands of teachers used it and it appears in many guides. It worked well, but it required everyone to be on the same Google domain and meant juggling several sheets at once.

What changes in the new web version of CoRubrics?

The new version is a full web app: no spreadsheet and no Google dependency, students assess through a link, and it adds AI for rubrics and feedback, a live mode, analytics and emailed reports.

How does CoRubrics work, step by step?

Sign in with your email, create or import a class, write or generate a rubric, turn it into a form with the weights you want, share the links, and when it closes CoRubrics computes the grades and sends the reports.

  1. 1Go to corubrics.co and sign in with Google or with your email (you receive a sign-in link).
  2. 2Create a class or import it from Google Classroom, CSV or Excel.
  3. 3Create a rubric: write it, start from a template, or describe it and let AI generate it.
  4. 4Create a form: choose class and rubric, and decide whether there is self- and peer assessment and how much each counts.
  5. 5Open the form and share the student links, or post them to Google Classroom.
  6. 6Assess from your dashboard while students respond.
  7. 7Close the form: you see grades per criterion and can send each student their report.

Can I import rubrics from the old add-on?

Yes. From the rubrics section you can pick the spreadsheets in Google Drive or upload the file, review what will be imported, and save them as CoRubrics rubrics.

Is CoRubrics still free?

Yes, there is a free plan with rubrics, self- and peer assessment, grade calculation and reports. The Pro plan adds features such as live mode, groups, AI feedback and extended analytics.
